LA Times: Retirement money fears now grip a record majority of working Americans.
Reportedly, 60% of current workers believe they'll get nothing from Social Security.

About half those surveyed believe they won't be able to retire for lack of funds. That's probably not far off the mark. Only 28% felt that way in 2002, which was pretty delusional.
Will increased realism lead to more investing? Some, maybe. By and large, those who can't afford to retire will keep on working.
So will many financially independent people. In U.S. Trust's recent survey of HNWIs and UHNWIs, almost half said they would keep on working for money. Well over half planned to do volunteer work.
