Another heiress of the Gilded Age dies

Huguette Clark.

Interesting, the different paths these fortunes took.  No bankers involved in managing this one, just an attorney and an accountant, apparently.

Huguette sounds wealthy enough to have deployed assets with brokers, bankers and maybe even trust officers. And there must have been a staff sufficient to maintain three unused homes. All overseen, presumably, by her lawyer and accountant. Think of them as running her de facto family office.

For more on Huguette and her father, including photos of Huguette's unused mansions, see MSNBC's photo narrative. After her father died, the narrative notes, teenage Huguette received an allowance of as much as $90,000 a year. That's about $1 million today.
