Find out by following Jeff Opdyke's tip in the Sunday Journal:
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., the federal unit that backs benefits offered by private-sector pension plans, is holding $133 million in unclaimed pension benefits. The money is for 32,000 people who are owed benefits from pension plans that have been terminated, such as when firms fold.To search for benefits, check out this Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. website.
Average unclaimed benefit: almost $5,000. A few people (or their estates) are due much larger sums.
